Biography/Resume:
Paul Burrell was born and reared in the coal mining community of Grassmoor near Chesterfield in Derbyshire. He gained a Diploma in Hotel Management, Housekeeping and Book Keeping at Buxton and shortly after secured a position at Buckingham Palace as Household Footman. Within a year he was appointed as the Queen's Personal Footman and travelled with Her Majesty worldwide. Paul married Maria, the Duke of Edinburgh's Housemaid and they have two sons - Alexander and Nicholas.
In 1987 Paul was asked by the Prince and Princess of Wales to become their Butler at Highgrove House. When the Royal couple separated Paul and his family returned to London with the Princess of Wales where he remained in her service until her tragic death. As recognition of his service to Diana, Princess of Wales the Queen decorated him with the Royal Victorian Medal. In 1998 the Government formed the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Committee, chaired by Gordon Brown and Paul Burrell was invited to be a member. Since then he has written an international best-seller 'Entertaining with Style' (in America entitled 'In The Royal Manner' ) and has a weekly column in the Daily Mail Weekend Magazine. He is involved with several charities and regularly competes in the London and New York Marathons and has also completed a ten day trek across the Namibian desert raising money and awareness for the landmines cause, a cause which was closest to the Princess' heart. He is a Patron of Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham North Wales. Subjects:
