Born in 1961, Andrew Lownie was educated at Fettes, Westminster, Magdalene College Cambridge [M.A], University of Edinburgh [Msc] and College of Law. From 1986-88 he was Director of John Farquharson Literary Agents. In 1988 he founded Andrew Lownie Literary Agency, representing among others Norma Major, Gloria Hunniford, Alan Whicker and Patrick MacNee. A former journalist for the Times and the Spectator, Andrew Lownie is the author and editor of 12 books.

Andrew Lownie was President of Cambridge Union. He was asked to lead the British Universities Debating Team in 1984 and is a regular after dinner speaker.
